SECTION THREE: Short Answer Responses (Assignment 2)

Please respond to each of the prompts below using complete sentences. I encourage you to use Google Docs, but you may use another method as long as you print and place in your folder. This assignment is due by Friday, March 23rd.

  1. What is the main character in the story and what is the setting? Be specific. Use concrete details to explain the setting.
  2. Describe the house. Give as much detail as possible.
  3. What are the useful functions that the house has which allow people to live happily together?
  4. What are 5 examples of personification in the story?
  5. What causes the initial catastrophe? Give evidence and examples from the story to prove your answer.
  6. How does the house end up destroyed?
  7. What is the house’s reaction to the fire? Give evidence and examples to support your answer.
  8. Do you sympathize with the house? Explain your answer fully. Use specific examples to support your answer.
  9. What is your opinion of the story? What do you like about it? Why? What do you dislike about it? Why? Give reasons for your opinion and support them with examples and details from the story.
  10. What, in your opinion, is the author’s intent in writing this story? What kind of theme 
  11. Would you recommend this story to others? Why or why not?
